Abito "La Juventud" Malbec 2019
This fine restaurant-quality imported wine is not available at LCBO stores.
The wine comes from a small Argentine winery whose founders applied hard work and creativity to turn their corner of a remote, arid landscape just east of the Andes mountains into an artisanal, solar-powered wine-making project.
It produces single-vineyard wines where the high-quality grapes are carefully tended and harvested by hand. Meanwhile, high-tech equipment is employed to ensure quality throughout the growing and winemaking process.
Doing its part to care for the environment, the winery is solar powered and 100% eco-friendly.
In addition to their vineyards, the farm has 40 ha of almond trees, as well as olive trees and other complementary trees and plants.
Grape Variety: 100% Malbec. Grapes harvested from a single vineyard at about 850 meters above sea level.
Origin: Barrancas, Maipú, Mendoza, Argentina.
Aging: Not aged in oak. Four months in bottle.
Tasting Notes: This is a fruit-forward, very typical Malbec notable also for its freshness. On the nose it recalls aromas of red and black fruits and dried fruits. There are also notes of white flowers like jasmine and violets. On the palate it is unctuous and friendly, with good acidity, roundness and fullness.
Food Pairing: Earthy, tangy, savory dishes like slow-cooked pulled pork, lamb or beef stew, mushrooms, sausage with a bit of spiciness, and "mild" chili.
Serving Temperature: 15° to 18°C or slightly cooler than room temperature.
