Corte dei Venti Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2017
92 points (Decanter)
89 points (Wine Enthusiast)
This fine restaurant-quality imported wine is not available at LCBO stores.
The wine comes from a small family winery located to the southeast of the Comune di Montalcino, its sunniest zone. The name "Corte dei Venti" refers to the fact that the area is always ventilated by Mediterranean breezes which, among other factors, ensure season-long favourable and optimal conditions for growing grapes. The Monaci family and their experienced enologist are dedicated to following the time-honoured traditions of making high-quality, authentic wines.
Grape Variety: 100% Sangiovese grosso.
Origin: Piancornello, Montalcino (SI).
Aging: 12 months in wooden barrels, tonneaux or barriques, followed by a minimum of 4 months in the bottle at controlled temperatures.
Tasting Notes: Intense and lively red colour with very bright hues. Clear, fresh aroma of fresh red fruit combined with tertiary aromas including dried tobacco. Ample, persistent and lively on the palate with a subtle and fine tannic structure.
Food Pairing: Try this lighter "younger brother" of Brunello with red meats, game stew, lamb stew, veal, pasta with meat sauce, bruschetta, and many cheeses, such as Fontina.
Serving Temperature: 16°C (room temperature or a little bit lower).
