The motto of the Rocca winemaking family is: “Five generations, one passion, great Italian wines!”
Podere Don Cataldo is their premium wine collection, named after the parcel of land on which the vineyards are situated, in the village of Leverano, province of Lecce, in the Salento, Puglia winemaking region in southern Italy.
Grape Variety: 100% Primitivo.
Origin: Salento, Puglia.
Aging: Big Slavonian oak barrels and stainless steel tanks.
Tasting Notes: Intense ruby red color with bright purple highlights. Complex aroma with notes of plums and cherries, hints of dried fruits and fig jam, and typical delicious aromas of licorice, cloves, and dark chocolate reminiscences. A full bodied wine with an authentic and charming taste gently filling the mouth.
"This fruit-forward red delivers rich tones of cherry and raspberry jam on the nose and palate, studded with delicate accents of violet and orange spice. It's velvety in texture, with bright acidity lending lift to it all. The fruit tones remain top of mind from start to finish." —Alexander Peartree, Wine Enthusiast
Food Pairing: Goes well with flavorful and spicy red meat dishes, osso buco, roast pork, and aged cheeses. Delicious with a mushroom risotto or even alone, paired with dark chocolate.
Serving Temperature: 18°C.
